Shreveport, Louisiana – A player is arrested for trying to defraud Sam’s Town Casino

A six man Caddo Parish jury took 90 minutes to find Bruce Wayne Duffy, 65, guilty of trying to defraud Sam’s Town Casino back in 2011. In addition to issuing the casino a worthless check for $1,500, Duffy was also given $20,000 in markers (which mean a line of credit). However, the $20,000 line of credit wasn’t valid because it was drawn on a closed account. Jurors determined that Duffy intended to defraud the casino, while Duffy has argued that he has discharged his obligation in bankruptcy. Duffy, who has prior convictions in 1975, 1977 and 1987 for drug and theft offenses, is facing up to 10 years in prison and a $3,000 fine. He has been remanded to the custody of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office, but will be back in court on the 8th of September for post-trial motions.
