The FBI’s Atlanta field office is warning Georgia residents to beware of a scam involving the Mega Millions Lottery. Scammers have been contacting Georgia residents and telling them that they have won the lottery. The scammers also tell their victims that they owe an advance fee and must wire transfer thousands of dollars to secure their winnings. The scammers use fake letters and documents with letterhead stationary from the FBI and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) to convince their victims of the authenticity of the lottery win. Persons receiving these scam notifications should file a report with the FBI at http://www.IC3.gov

Delhi Police raid an illegal gambling operation and arrest 36 people

Acting on a tip-off, Delhi Police swooped on an illegal casino that was operating in a farmhouse in south Delhi on Sunday the 23rd of October. Thirty-six people including players and dealers were arrested. Police also seized gambling chips worth Rs 1,36,45,000, 23 bottles of liquor, 250 packets of playing cards and 11 luxury vehicles. However, police were unable to find Harnendra Kaushik, the owner of the premises, and Kunal Chandra, the proprietor of the casino, both of whom are wanted by police. “We are moving the court requesting that the premises used for the casino be sealed under the Delhi Gambling Act,” said deputy commissioner of police Ishwar Singh.

On Sunday the 16th of October, police were dispatched to Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem where they charged Brenda Joyce Underwood, 53, for stealing a purse. Underwood told officers that since someone stole her purse, she was taking this one. “Since someone stole my purse, I’m taking this one.” Underwood told police. However, Underwood did not report her purse stolen after it was allegedly stolen. After the other woman’s purse went missing, casino security used video surveillance footage to discover what may have happened to it. They saw Underwood taking the purse and making her way to the restroom. Underwood was charged with theft and receiving stolen property. Her bail was set at $20,000.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested Robert G. Marsanico, 56, of Avondale, New Jersey on Saturday the 8th of October for cheating at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. According to police reports, Marsanico sneakily altered his bets after learning of the outcome of the game. Marsanico has agreed to pay the casino for 4 pinched bets, but after reviewing the casino video footage, police discovered that Marsanico had cheated at least 11 times. Marsanico faces charges under Pennsylvania’s gaming law.

“Pinching bets” may be defined as reducing the amount wagered or canceling the bet after acquiring knowledge of the outcome of the game.

Reno, Nevada – An Eldorado Resort and Casino employee dies after being attacked in a casino robbery

Frederick Douglas Borden, 63, was gambling at the Eldorado Resort and Casino on Friday night, the 30th of September when he committed a robbery. On his way out of the casino, Borden struck a 52 year old casino employee. The casino employee collapsed at the scene and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center where he died on the following day. Borden was located and arrested on Saturday afternoon. Borden was charged with robbery and taken to the Washoe County Jail. Borden may face more charges depending on the results of the victim’s autopsy.
