A Georgia lottery winner is killed in a home invasion

24 January 2016

Craigory Burch, Jr, 20, of Fitzgerald, won $434,272 in the Georgia Fantasy 5 lottery in November 2015. At the time, he was working as a fork lift driver and was at times struggling to make ends meet. “My right eye and hand had jumped for the past two weeks,” Burch explained, “I knew that I would come into money.” His friends said that Burch used his winnings to help buy Christmas presents for people in need. Sadly, on Thursday the 21st of January, Burch became the victim of a home invasion, during which 3 masked robbers shot their way into his home and demanded money. Burch pleaded with them not to kill him. “When they came in, he said, ‘don’t do it bro. Don’t do it in front of my kids. Please don’t do it in front of my kids and old lady,'” said his girlfriend, Jasmine Hendricks. “He said I’ll give you my bank card.” Burch tossed his pants to the robbers who rummaged through it looking for his wallet. When they didn’t find his wallet, they shot and killed him before running away. Police have not yet identified the three killers and are seeking the public’s help.
