Altoona, Iowa – A mother goes to Prairie Meadows and leaves young children alone in the hotel room

It was approximately 3:23 a.m. on the 6th of December 2015 when staff and guests at Altoona’s Quality Inn heard screaming and crying from one of the rooms. When staff were unable to establish contact with the guest staying in the room, the Altoona Police Department was contacted. Arriving at the scene, police opened the door and found three young children in the room by themselves. The ages of the children were 5 years, 3 years and 17 months. Jeorkan Marie Alvarado Morales, 22 had left her children in the hotel room to go to Prairie Meadows. Morales was arrested and charged with child endangerment. She posted a $2,000 bond the following day.
